THE DAIQUIRI
The daiquiri is definitely in my top 5 classic cocktails, and is perhaps one of the easiest, cheapest, and most perfectly delicious classics you can make. And no - you don't need a blender or strawberries. It's the perfect no-frills summer cocktail, and should be in your arsenal if it isn't already.

Prep time: 20 minutes
Makes 1 cocktail

Ingredients:

2 oz white rum (you can actually use any type of rum you want, but this is classic. Plantation 3 Stars or Bacardi Silver are good options.)
1 oz fresh lime juice
3/4 oz simple syrup (1 cup of sugar will make enough syrup for many cocktails)
Lime wheel for garnish

Instructions:

1.) To make your simple syrup, combine equal parts sugar and water on the stove and heat on medium, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool.

2.) Add rum, lime, and syrup to your shaker and fill it with ice. Rather than using smaller ice cubes, I like to use one large cube for this drink, as it minimizes dilution and makes the drink taste even brighter; that said, this is totally optional - use the ice you have. Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds or until the shaker feels really cold. Strain into a coupe or martini glass and garnish the surface with a lime wheel. Enjoy.
