GUAVA, MINT, LIME, TEQUILA
If you've never had guava in a cocktail before, it's time. This, folks, is what we call a patio pounder. Guava and tequila were practically made for each other, and the mint and lime keep it bright, fresh, and addictive. Watch out.
Prep time: 5 minutes
Makes 1 cocktail
Ingredients:
2 large lime wedges, plus 1 for garnish
5-10 mint leaves
1 tsp granulated sugar
2 oz guava nectar or puree (I used Goya, they almost always carry this in the Latin Food section at the grocery)
2 oz silver tequila
Instructions:
1.) In the bottom of your cocktail shaker, place lime wedges, mint leaves, and sugar. Using a muddler (or anything else you find that will work) press ingredients gently, working most of the juice out of the lime wedges, but not pressing so hard that you destroy the mint.
2.) To the shaker, add guava nectar and tequila. Fill shaker to about two-thirds with ice. Shake for 10-15 seconds or until the shaker feels really cold.
3.) Instead of straining this drink, pour it with the ice directly into the final glass. Garnish with the remaining lime wedge and enjoy!
